A Confidence Trick - JM Staniforth

Politically agnostic is a term I sometimes use to describe my lack of faith in political ideologies. In a world of propaganda and indirect forms of influence I would have to admit that faith in people, institutions, or ideologies, is a psychological vulnerability which can be exploited by confidence tricks. Just as people in the cryptocurrency community worry so much about being scammed out of their money they in my opinion would be wise to be concerned about "scam political ideologies" which can in an indirect way have the same effect of separating them from their wealth (which may not be measured in money). Wealth is so much more than money and keeping that wealth is the ultimate challenge.

This post isn't to say that people who follow ideologies are right or wrong. They should do what is best for them in their situation. I am merely expressing my personal thoughts and opinions. Faith in others is something which is more often than not exploited by others.

Great reminder ... of whats really important ... Our Personal Freedom (Wealth) ... We had a great discussion in steemspeak today about being agnostic. I feel the same way as you do, as far as being Politically agnostic. I agree with your premise, basically ..."Don't be a sheep" ... Nice post btw, as usual, "Grist for MY mill", ty

Faith can be exploited because the beholder leaves all reason at the door. Normally the door of a house of religion.

freedom voices, i agree. keep it up

A very interesting point raised.

My problem with political ideologies is that most do not take the time to consider what they believe. It is akin to religion. Is it any wonder most Americans who identify themselves as religious are Christian? Parents raise their kids in the same "faith" they were born into. Political ideologies are the same way. Sure some actually question and break the indoctrination yet most do not.

The other issue I have is that the ideology tends to be fluid. For example, one party, when not in control, against everything even if it is part of their ideology. "Being right" is the most important thing.

Personally, I took a step back a number of years ago and questioned it all. Thank you for bringing up these points.

Since we are political animals just as Aristotle said, we have always needed political systems which came of course from political idiologies to somehow organise societies, even when humans didn't know anything about politics as we know it today they had a structure of governance.
Nowadays politics is a social science based on social evidence and the analysis of thoughts and behavior in the polis -city- and the entire world, which has already gave some important results about what could be the best way to organise ourselves. But here comes the problem, politicians don't follow that evidence provided by Political science actually they don't follow any science, what they really want is more power, that's the reason why most of them just make promises about what people want to hear to make sure they get as many votes as possible. And that's why direct democracy is just another problem beacause It only means that a group of individuals -mayority- can dictate their own point of view, opinion or ideology to another group -minority- just beacuse they are more than the other ones, that's really insane and irracional, even more when is a proven fact that most people don't know in depth about Political science.
So if you ask to me I would say all ideologies are not the whole problem, two of the real problems are democracy -much more the direct one- and of course politicians.
