It's Time to get Involved

What's Happening

The FREEDOM! family has people in every state working to maximize membership and participation so that we can have real, intelligent people participate at the national level. If you want to wait for politicians to give us freedom, you may be waiting a while. Its the real people like all of you that are actually working to end state-sponsored violence, kidnapping, extortion, and general tom-fuckery.

Its easy for us all to get caught up in work and life and stay on the sidelines but once your woke, you don't go back to sleep. I truly believe that the opportunity we have this year is a big one that we shouldn't let pass us by. With the amount of empty seats at the LNC every convention someone will be looking to fill them. Why not us?

Like many people I am brand-new to the Libertarian Party. I just joined 2 weeks ago and connected with some local liberty-lovers for the first time at a public brunch. That's what it takes though -- that first step. What else am I going to do? Sit in front of my keyboard for hours arguing with every statist on the internet? After having met Adam and some of his staff and having some long philosophical discussions, I've decided it is time to take action. We have before us a rare chance to foster a revolution. Not the kind stained with bloodshed, rather a revolution of the mind.

I'm under no illusions that "working within the system" is the end-all be-all, or that even getting @adamkokesh elected will solve all our problems. Rather this campaign is a huge opportunity for mass exposure to the principles of liberty. More and more people are waking up every day and once there is a critical mass of humans that desire freedom we can have a chance at it.

What you can do

Anyone and everyone is welcome to come on this journey. If you like freedom and non-violence it should be especially rewarding for you. Join your local or state Libertarian Party affiliate and volunteer to be a delegate. It's easier than you might think. In most cases all you have to do is raise your hand.

Items up for vote this year in New Orleans are not quite as exciting as the election year, but equally as important:

  1. We will be voting for the leadership positions: Chair, vice-chair, committee positions etc.
  2. We will be voting for administrative and bylaw changes.
  3. We will be voting for the following statement to be added to the Libertarian Party Platform (Section 3.7):

" Out of respect for the right of self-determination of communities and individuals, we support the reduction, localization, and elimination of government wherever and whenever possible."

This last one is particularly important, which I will support for adoption. This "plank" brings the party's platform closer in line with what I personally believe, and what the #kokesh2020 campaign will be advocating.

Can we all get along?

Whether you believe we need a federal government or not, I think many can agree it shouldn't be any bigger than what was designed by our Constitution. There is nobody else that is promising to deliver anything close to that in 2020. The two-party system has always created MORE government, MORE war, MORE corruption. So lets all work to make it that limited, then we can discuss whether or not we want to go further.

How this can work

As you saw from the last couple election cycles the Libertarian Party is trending hard. Add to that the lawsuit that exposed the corruption of the Federal Election Commission and the Commission on Presidential Debates last year. In Level the Playing Field v FEC, the judge sided with the LP and the other joint plaintiffs in US District Court. Among other things this means that there will most likely be a third podium at the national debates in 2020. The LP nominee will actually get to debate red Trump and blue [insert generic statist] on live national TV. Millions will be exposed to liberty from this alone, not to mention the campaign trail.

The LP is still relatively small when you compare it to the two old parties, but this is changing. Adam is still young, not tied down, and has sincerely promised to keep at it every cycle until either we are free or somebody better comes along. Don't worry about the general election right now. The odds are very good for securing the party nomination, and Adam has Ben Farmer as his chief strategist. He is the one who led Gary Johnson to victory two elections in a row.

The first major state convention was a ground-breaking success for this campaign. 19 of 23 delegates seated were committed to FREEDOM! Read all about it here. That's only the beginning.

Real freedom starts with understanding that we own ourselves. This campaign is a stage from which to teach that. Instead of voting for someone who promises to help you by hurting others and/or taking their stuff, vote for someone who promises not to hurt anyone or take their stuff. (or do whatever you want)
