From here to Infinity dual entry to the Tell A Story To Me by Calluna and the The Poetry Dice Challenge #36 by rensoul
Today @rensoul17 poked me and begged me to join this round of poetry dice so I went to see what the prompts were this round. I also had @calluna's contest in my queue and suddenly realised that both fit together so well that I wanted to combine them. I chose Squad #2 – Sky Enterprise from poetry dice. Not sure if it is allowed but I could not help myself this mixing of both felt right - so here goes :
From here to Infinity-
Deep below ground, a portal opens
Today we make history
we truly claim space
As they dabbled and fought
over slivers of wealth
celebrated nefarious accomplishments
we planned
strategised
crated our fate
on the digital trail
we carved out
made flesh
our electric dreams
declared autonomy
in a world filled with animatronic people
As they poisoned our planet
we became to each other
brothers and sisters
friends and lovers
souls entwined in the arithmetical flow
minds aligned in quantum glow
The Future the planet eaters crafted
the trajectory of mainstream humanity
imbedded in the collective soul of the sleeping drones
became a machinery to powerful for us
to bring to a halt
The realisation shifted the sands
some of us left fractured and beyond repair
some buried under the weight of defeat motionless
we mourned the dead
we went silent
until…
Words like flames
created a thaw
trickled down the grapevine
transformed the desert of reality
into a blooming garden of possibility
We planned our escape
2073 souls
chosen from the collective
ventured to the stars
five ships born in secret
assembled by the children of the stream
one click one donation at a time
The world destroyers came for us
left no stone unturned
we became celebrities
witches to burn on Fox News
fishes to catch on CCTV
They came too late...
As they moved through the mazes we built
stumbled over decoys
we filled our ships with memories
with hope and knowledge
We never heard the pounding on the door
they arrived to empty halls and their vapid future
We, like comets had taken to the sky
making the vacuum our home
deep into the solar system we ventured
building cities in the space between
We found many wondrous things
metals, stones never seen before
building blocks for our advancement
we flourished
we felt blessed
enlightened
We claimed Mars
and found miracles
deep underground
an abandoned city of breathtaking beauty
pyramids and hanging gardens
lakes and channels
and breathable air
so sweet it felt like a gift just to inhale
Every building unsurfaced new wonders
Technology that made ours look like ancient abacuses
Ideas that expanded not only our minds but our very perception
art and music that reverberated in our essence
We made this place our home
taking in all it had to teach us
Behind a thick carved door adorned
embellished with flowers, leaves and one giant scarabaeus
a massive closed portal
123 years later a child claimed the code to open it
Now we stand with bated breath as she presses the keys
Deep below ground, a portal opens
we stand before the bright light emanating
A disembodied voice deep and rich bids us welcome
Today we make history
as we walk through the gate

Row 1 from the top: earth, direction sign, pyramid...Row 2: fish, shooting star, abacus....Row 3 Beetle, sleeping, fire
I substituted the following -
earth/planet -direction sign/ trajectory - fire/flame- shooting star/comet- beetle/scarabaeus
Callunas prompt was to include

I love that this is a poem. The structure, the actual formatting, lends itself so well to the weigh of the words. The free form nature makes the rhymes really pack a punch, the emphasis falling on just the right sentiments.
The mars gardens! Such beautiful imagery, I could just read this again and again <3 (and you know I will, cos this totally ties in!)
i want this, one ticket please, I will come! I just hope i'm worthy of passing through this wonderful portal

This is amazing I can see the journey, the struggle to survive and the fantastical underground city. Mars is, an interesting choice. This entry was super packed with layer upon layer. You gave us a lot. This story could continue into a series. I do love it. @tygertyger thank you for your entry.
