Brandy Whispers
Brandy Whispers
Countless are the times that I listen
To the memory of that night when
We stole away to the cluster of birch trees
Just beyond the south lawn of your keep,
Our makeshift palace, refuge from hypocrisy.
Laughter poured from our eyes as we twirled
Beneath a canopy of leaflets and diamonds,
And waltzed for an eager audience of crickets.
Your lips, sweetened by the toast we shared
On the terrace as the chimes sounded ten,
Spoke in fevered riddles of ever-mores and
Burned away my fears of impropriety.
Oh how I yearn for just another taste....
One more brandied whisper.

as Rilke says, two solitudes protect and touch and greet each other. Nicely done
