"Gallop Away" [An Original Poem, 1-1-1991]
"Gallop Away"
In an alcoholic daze
let's roam through this maze -
where the exit leads to,
no one knows -
With my eyes in a blaze
let's wander to a place
where Dreams and Life
hold on like lovers
under the glare of the Moon -
drips,
smears,
rains on us -
lands all around to form
river of blood -
like a galloping horse,
thundering past,
raising a visible, breathing cloud.
Every muscle in unison,
Man and Creature,
one visible feature -
pumping, breathing, running fast.
You can't out run your
own shadow - why even try?
so serene -
broken by your attempt to flee -
run, run, keep on running -
but your shadow is still there
with no exertion -
always there
since the beginning of creation.
