What I Will
Walking down an empty lane,
wishing for that pot of gold
at rainbow's end, no pain
too great to keep away the bold.
Looked into the misted mirror
at a haunted face like mine;
eyes locked, a tightened fear
of crossing society's line.
To hell with them, I said,
I make my own destiny:
Gold is no match for a dream-filled head
and a life created by me.
