Steemit Poetry Contest #5 (Evolution) Is Adaptive Radiation A Good Thing? or / (The Cambrian explosion)

At first a tiny mote of sense, enough to know it's there
and then the slightest touch is felt with just one proto-hair

before too long this thing it moves and knows it's not alone
but what sits there's a mystery, another thing unknown

move onwards by a few mutated ticks of the eternal hand of time
and now this thing can move around, a long time hence before it'll rhyme

legs and fins and wings and are all good stuff to grow finesse
but brains and eyes and a medium size are winning things no less

It's up and running, chasing stuff, there you go, it threw a rock
It won't be long before it suffers from dodgy knees and writers block

it's now got existential angst and wonders how it came to be
it learned to laugh and let things go that's evolution don't you see
