A SECRET

I hold a secret I never told,
A deathly shadow that tempts my soul,
I fear it’s lost within my hopes,
Its war for freedom before I’m old.

It dreams to leave and fights to stay,
It hides behind me and cries in pain,
I hold it with passion and with passion it holds me,
I need it, it needs me, and sadly, we know this.

Destructing its meaning is what I thrive for, every night,
That it destructs me in return, is what I failed to realize.
Our loneliness keeps us company and allows us to decide,
Which weapon we should use, to destroy each other’s lives.

It’s my secret, I’m its capsule,
We feed from the other’s blood,
I won’t leave it, we won’t fracture,
For if it’s a secret, it can’t be told.
