Poetry Slam Challenge 12 (Storm, Her Name)

in #poetry7 years ago

An entry into the always fabulous Poetry Slam Challenge #12 run by the ever more fabulous @prufarchy. Acrostic's are always a tough nut to crack with my username. I contemplated a more humourous entry but this one won out in the end!

Majestic she towers
Elements of rage and dark
Electric kisses delight the sky
Static, yet never still

Terrifying when she strikes
Edges purple washing out sight
Redacting
Blinding
Ostentatious her show
Only to scatter at
Morning and her skirts of mist

Awesome job ! Loved this , im feeling energized for some reason !😉👍🌩⛈🌩

Wayhay!! Storms always do that for me!!

I am always incredibly impressed with good poetry, because that seems to be the one writing skill that continues to allude me. I did write one pretty decent poem when I was about eighteen, maybe even good, but since then...nada. I start out great, then I just can't seem to end it...this is why I am a novelist, short writing is not my forte, haha!

And I made that all about me, when I actually wanted to say Incredible, masterful, beautiful job me scot-t ;)

Well thank you very much! Maybe you peaked to soon! Although I am fairly sure you would have a fine touch with it. :O)

I tend to think my own stuff is rubbish but try not to listen to them inner thoughts. That way madness lies!

Very nice!

That would combine beautifully with some Em-C-D.

Now, its funny that you should mention that ;0)

Storm that goes boom. Good luck with your entry.

And with your entry too @ace108!!

Ох какач молния @kostiyatsuk

Yes indeed!! :0)

Interesting interpretation!

Very different to your usual work, much more intense. I like it👍
I haven't steemed for a while. Have I missed any of your autobiographical journal chapters?

Oh you haven't but hot golly damn. I have one, I had just largely forgotten to put it up! Thank you for reminding me!

Great job, dude! One might argue that the length of your name was a huge advantage for this challenge. It gave you a lot of room to flex your poetic muscle! Your poem wonderfully portrayed a storm. Brilliant stuff! I once did an acrostic of a storm as well, but involved the alphabet. I'll try to look for it.

Involved the alphabet... Like the whole alphabet? Wow, that would be quite the thing!! The length was good, the number of m's, o's and e's not so much but all in all I was happy with the end result!

You see, I've never had a lot of friends, so I had tons of spare time in my youth haha! Ohhh yeah, I didn't think about the repeating letters. That really seems to be a hurdle. But, you went through it swimmingly, and that's all that matters :D

Well It looks like a lack of friend didn't hurt you in the slightest. Childhood is a funny thing. At times I had loads and others I had none. Ultimately though i was happy and rats the important bit. Lots of spare time is good. Means you can do stuff!!

Yeah, I just try to focus on the positives that came out of it. No use dwelling on the negatives, right? Unless you still use a camera that uses film, then definitely keep the negatives safely stored haha!

Lol, oh dear oh dear!!!

Sometimes you hit jokes out of the park, sometimes you just hit it straight to the cornfield haha!

I always love a good storm, love the picture :)

Cheers muchy! I love them too

A good storm clears your head :)

It does, that and the pipes!! :0D

Thought a strong curry did that lol :P

That's the back up! ;0)

Best to be prepared :)

Ooooh, I likey! Excellent visual, and you did your username proud! I enjoy the challenge of acrostics too, but haven't posted any - I should go and dig one up and post it in my blog. Well done! :)

Thank you very much! Acrostic's are hard. You totally should find them and post them up. The poetry slam challenge was great for making you dig deep!!

You're on - going to look now! I didn't know there are actually poetry challenges to submit to. Do you have any links I can check out?

If you follow a chap called @prufarchy, a fabulous poet and writer you will see them. There hasn't been one for a while but I don't think they have stopped. I think also if you check out the tag #poetryslamchallenge you can see all the entries :0)

Thank you so much, I will do that. I just posted 2 acrostic poems on my blog. One of them (Lovemaking) is actually an 'acrostic etheree/reverse etheree" poem - that was a challenge, and I loved both the format research and the writing of it!

I checked them out and liked them a lot! I left a note on tags on one

I saw that, and really appreciate that you did, and left me some feedback as well. I'm still learning so much about Steemit, so thank you for your tips. I'll remember that about the tags for next time.
