Day #5: "Isolation"

Day 5 of my poetry challenge

Whenever they're having a fight,
I stand up, go to my room and listen to music.
I become deaf, hoping everything will be alright
and live the world by my own choosing.

As the decibels get higher, I turn my music up.
Too high already... it's starting to hurt.
In my hand, I hold a shaking teacup,
and an inner crisis I am trying to avert.

And so the fire bursting from my mouth
shouts to both of them: "get out"!
I feel as if I live in peace today
and my world has turned out okay.
