The Fruitage of Spirit (Part 2) - Kindness, Goodness, Faith, Mildness, and Self-Control

This is the second part of my post about "The Fruitage of Spirit". At the first part, I discussed about the first four qualities which are mentioned at Galatians 5:22, 23. If you missed the first part, check the link on that article below.

This time, I would be tackling the remaining 5 of the 9 qualities next to LOVE, PEACE, JOY, and PATIENCE. The following qualities to discuss this time are KINDNESS, GOODNESS, FAITH, MILDNESS, and SELF-CONTROL. Just like the first four qualities, the succeeding ones are important as well.

KINDNESS

We all want to be treated with kindness. When someone shows such quality towards us, we would be amazed of that person's qualities. But how about us showing kindness to other people? We can show kindness at any time or any place we're in. In fact there are simple gestures we did that we unawarely shown kindness. Kindness stems from the heart and it will naturally display through our actions. So if we have a kind heart, we do good things to other people, and we don't need to be dictated by our mind to move.

I saw a video on Youtube with some people who has shown random acts of kindness.

The video shows some people helping the needy, including the homeless people. At the last part of the video, the girl helps through donating some of her stuff. It shows that regardless of age, everyone can help and show such kindness.

Good thing, people still show what humanity is all about. You can find them in busy streets when some of them helps elderly people cross the street as you can see on this video.

Recently while I was riding on a bus, a seeminglyly needy person sought help from the passengers. The passengers are very willing to help. It feels so good to witness the kindness of the people. Nevertheless, there should be caution when helping some beggars. Some of them are involved in syndicates.

Still, showing kindness can change the world. May we continue showing kindness to everyone.

GOODNESS

After kindness, goodness follows. We may think that kindness is similar to goodness. Yes they are, but they were different. Being kind is more about our attitude. Our kindness prompts us to turn it into action. Thus, we do good things to other people.

Being good encompasses a lot of positive qualities too. If we are good, we do whatever is right both in the eyes of God and people. In fact, all the qualities mentioned as "The Fruitage of Spirit" are part of being good. Though, LOVE is the primary quality.

We should also learn from God over His goodness, and may we receive the goodness He is showing and giving us.

FAITH

I know some people doesn't have faith like I used to. I still respect them, because I want to be respected with my faith. I have faith in God and whatever he says from His Holy Word, the Bible. Reading the Bible invigorates my faith in Him.

Faith isn't simply believing in God, rather it involves an inner feeling, and action. Because of our faith, we apply whatever we learn about God. As the saying goes, faith without action is not faith. Hence, our faith will prompt us to do the will of God.

Having faith gives me a sense of confidence on what God has promised. It doesn't give me doubt at all.

If you have faith, you will become faithful not just towards God, rather to people you are committed to. An example is marriage. Couples show their faithfulness towards their marriage mates. IT also works in families and friends.

MILDNESS

Mildness may be an underrated quality. However, it is an essential quality that we should acquire. With all the warfares this world is facing, it was brought about by lack of mildness.

This trait is also important to have a peaceful relationship with other people. It also helps us to cultivate patience. I had met a lot of people who are so mild. They were already being opposed by other people, or even to the point of being persecuted, yet they maintained their calmness and mildness.

SELF-CONTROL

This is a trait that's often disregarded. Most people listen to their impulses, thus leading them to some consequences. Self-control actually involves becoming mild-tempered. People often loses self-control which creates altercations, wars, fights, etc. In fact, lack of self-control broke a lot of relationship.

Self-control also involves avoiding what is bad. It is conquering against wrong things. Self-control gives as inhibition on things, thus we are in control of ourselves. It also helps us to balance things, and weigh things down. It also gives us determination and confidence. Hence, self-control is a powerful and positive quality that we should have in ourselves.

All these positive qualities- LOVE, PEACE, JOY, PATIENCE, KINDNESS, GOODNESS, FAITH, MILDNESS, and SELF-CONTROL- are well connected. In fact, it gives people a sense of happiness if such qualities will be applied. Depending on how people views it, giving yourself to try to evaluate yourselves about the positive effects on your being if the qualities mentioned were applied.
