This young man has a lot of issues. It was reported that he has autism, went to special ed school but always kept to himself.
Perhaps, he never has the proper help, guidance and love needed since he was a child. We, as a society, need to help raise ALL our kids to know how to love and to reach their full potential.
I don't think we offer enough help and support to our children and parents in our society. Many families struggle.
Hope the conversations would focus on the positive, ie on how we would move forward and what could we do in the community to help those who may be struggling, whether it's mental health and etc.
You're right. Our duty as parents is to make sure our children know love and can't be blinded by hate; that mental health issues are the core issue. In the same breath, this selfish act is condemnable, and it's perpetrator should never see more freedom than he has taken away from his victims. I am curious what type of crime and civil unrest might happen to that country in a couple decades because of the neglect. We will probably be able to see first hand what happens to a society that doesn't value their children.
As someone that suffered from neglect as a kid, learning problems and abuse. I still don't understand what this guy did. There are many worst off people, with a lot more problems that are still not mowing down people in the streets. So I don't have very much, if any sympathy for the guy. I think he got online with a hate group and he let hate get inside him, because of sexual frustration.
I think we should take a closer look at all the talking heads that are warping our society's perspective, in forums and online discourse. There are always going to be stupid kids out there, willing to believe anything, if their is a community of people there ready to support them.
It is the preachers of malcontent and rage that we should sniff out and try to handle better.
Too many preachers of backward thinking getting inside people.
Everybody wants community, everybody wants to belong.
