The Wedding Party in the Village | Pesta Pernikahan di Kampung |

in #poetry6 years ago

half the day, after the garbage is mounted on the edge of the gutter, the remaining youngsters begin to mingle in laughter.
three to seven teenagers standing across the long table, where young banana pieces like car tires sank in a dull yellow sauce.
next, to it, plates overlap with half wet body.
the aroma of soap is still thick, mixed with oil that has not yet completely gone.
the chunks of white rice began to cool, no matter how hot the sunburned.

milkfish swimming in shallow soy ponds is also unaffected by the sunlight. They hardened the body to send traces of resistance to the pleasures of the invitees. so arrogant because of only they rulers on the table. "Choose us, or fill your plate with wrinkled crackers in the wind," says the head of the milkfish which was half blackened and half brown-black. chips of tomatoes and chilies attached to his neck like escorting the pleasure to stay awake.

finally, arrived at the end of a fertile table with mineral water two letters holding a master of engineering. they are wet, inside by themselves and the outside by others. some of them suffer from paralysis, so standing with their butts is no longer perfect. a hard stab no longer hurts them. There is no other way than to use violence that makes tears spill in the wrong place.

music jerking, counterbalance the story of the invitation. young people start smiling in front of the camera. the plates did not leave immediately after being dregs. the party is coming to an end, but young people are still faithful in fencing tradition when the selfie is incapable of doing so.

bongkahan-bongkahan nasi putih mulai mendingin, tak peduli betapa pun panasnya matahari membakar.

I like the way you have written your impressions down, using a few poetic devices in each paragraph - it lends a lot to the piece. I enjoyed it a lot. Am i correct in my interpretation, that you were not impressed with this 'party'?

I attended a wedding party in a village where young people help each other as party organizers, it is common in Indonesian villages. They did not hand over the party to an event organizer. The young man helped each other, it impressed me.

But you are right @trumanity. I was not impressed with the party because it was packed from home. Should simplicity still impress us. Thanks for providing an interesting interpretation.

I've been to many similar events out in Asia - so much is thrown at the event that it loses the true meaning behind it all. It feels impersonal and the hosts are hard pressed to impress everyone, even those who mean very little to their lives. I like simplicity, especially with respect to important events like these. Thanks for your reply.
