To Leave A Dying World - Birthday Post
I dream each night
Of how the stars look from home

Today is my birthday!! To celebrate, I wanted to share one of my favourites out of the poems I have written this year. This poem inspired me to paint this plate with the vast expanse of space, and a single rocket, looking for a new home. It seemed very fitting to celebrate another successful orbit of the sun on this wonderful planet, by sharing a poem about those who have had to leave both. This poem is really a song, but I am not brave enough to sing it to you I am afraid, hopefully one day I will be brave enough to sing it to someone else, so they can sing it for you. Like many of my favourite poems, this was mainly written in those twilight moments, before sleeping and after waking, when words pour forth without conscious thought. That said, it wouldn't be fair not to mention the anime Knights of Sidonia, which i had watched previously, that I feel definitely helped shape this song in my subconscious, inspiring me to dream of seed ships, scattered far from the world that could no longer sustain them.

Jeez, I do not know if it is the underlying connection between all humans, or if you are just a little bit psychic, but I have been feeling so rubbish and down this week, this morning it sort of peaked. And honestly, I saw this, and it wasn't as hard to drag myself on with my day. It was like you knew. Thank you so much, you lifted me right out of that dark mood! Having people believe in you, makes it much easier to be brave - so i am definitively feeling braver now. Not quite brave enough to share it as a post, I may post it as a comment hidden somewhere most people will miss :P
When you are ready! We are all connected, and I may be a bit psychic, but I really think I know because I feel the same way. I think we all pretty much struggle in the same ways. I do believe in you. I'm sure many other do too, and many more, the more people see your work. Most importantly, my dear, we must believe in ourselves, before others can. But, hey, mystical seer, I like that. Don't think I'm quite that good yet though! 😉 You truly are underrated. Don't let the tough, slow progress get you down, you can be one of the greats, if you so desire. Not saying it's easy!
I think you are right there, people are people, we are all the same in many ways. It always baffles me how people draw lines in the dirt, and claim being from one side makes you different. I do try and remember anyway I am feeling, others are too, and probably more so. To be fair, I have plenty of strong supporters, but they also all love me, which is wonderful and amazing and everything. But I struggle to tell how objective they can be, and also knowing me so well, they know how I talk and hear it in my writing. It is good but when someone who doesn't know you, and has just read your writing says it, it means a lot more! You know it is just from your writing.
You are pretty close to mystic seer level, lol, you have made wild friends, have made your home in the forest, and fix things, pretty old school magic if you asked the inquisition!
It is so hard to balance optimism and realism. I want to believe it, but then I struggle to get my hopes up too much. I have been trying to walk the knife edge in the middle which can be a bit wobbly lol. I try and just focus on writing and then afterwards decide if it needs more work. It is just part of the human dilemma I suppose :)
I really love this poem! And the plate it inspired. That would be my favorite plate if I owned it :) Okay this may sound strange but if you want to hear what thispoem sounds like set to music, consider entering it into my song challenge (super simple, nothing required except dropping me off lyrics or a title/contest suggestion for a song and I turn the ones I like into songs, post them, and split the SBD payout for the song with the commenter). Oh yey!! Thank you so much, it is one of my absolute favourite poems so it really means a lot to me. To be totally honest, this plate is one of my favourite things, i keep it on my bedside table, i can't bear to use it for anything that will cover it up. I am hoping to make a bowl too but finding a good famous spaceship with a nice easy silhouette is much harder than i thought - Valley Forge is definitely out of the question although I am always open to suggestions!
Oh my, i have to hear the song you heard!! The one i hear is kind of a slow ballad, i may, MAY, attempt to sing it, but i really want to hear your version. I have a fair few bits i have written that would make better songs than poems, so i will most definitely be entering. Yey thank you! I did look for a contest to turn lyrics into songs, and could only find ones for actual songs, so i am very glad you found this one! Heading over to enter right now!
