I am not that fit anymore

Today my son and daughter arrived home early,very early from work. The substation in the area went down and with no power most businesses closed down for the day.It wasn't a planned power cut, but it looked genuine. To be honest we don't know anymore what is real and what isn't.

The staff had all been sent home when my daughter received a phone call that a container had arrived.I was busy doing my own work, but couldn't ignore the predicament they were now in.More hands make light work and I volunteered.I am not a spring chicken anymore and probably not as fit as I should be. I can feel it now as I am a little stiff. The problem is they don't have a loading bay so everything is offloaded by hand onto pallets.There was 2 ladies and 2 males and we all did our bit.

I hope they learn to check for things like this in the future before letting everyone go.My first question was who knew about it and where are they? It sounded like my son cocked this up and at least he was there helping. this may have done him some good as this was like a kick up the pants.

It could have been worse and there could have been two or three of them which is not uncommon for them. Two hours of physical work was not what I had planned when I woke up this morning and may have done me some good.Maybe tomorrow my body will tell me otherwise. I really need to get back into shape and this could go down as day one. Tomorrow I will do something else even if it is a short 15 minute run.

I need to get in shape too. I hear you though about not planning to do physical work and then there you are right in the middle of it. I often ask why I bothered going to college when I find myself crawling around on the floor in my dress clothes connecting or disconnecting someones computer...

Lol. I hear you , but it also keeps you grounded. Never lose your roots and doing mundane things like disconnecting a computer sounds stupid, but it is all part of the service. I do loads of things that I shouldn't as well, but I just do it.

There is nothing like a wake-up call, is there? I have no idea what kind of shape you are in but I can say that exercise to help little by little as always a help when something unexpected like this comes up. But you already knew that I could tell. Sorry this had to happen to you but oh, I think it's a cheap reminder of how you need to get in better shape for yourself.

And gosh, I said that all without knowing you. But of course no ill intent was meant.

You are right. I am not that bad though and just haven't made time for looking after myself lately. It wont take me long to get everything back to normal as I am very sporty and enjoy doing this type of thing. I have given myself 6 weeks to get back in shape again and shed some excess weight.
We all need a wake up call and should just do it. No ill intent taken and look after yourself and thank you for commenting and the tipu.

I knew. I figured that you were not that bad but it's always good to get a little bit of a wake-up call to make sure that you stay in shape. I'm a regular Runner or sometimes I walk, but normally I do it every single day, with occasionally taking a day off. I can really tell the difference when I stop doing it for a month or so, as I did when I went to take care of my mom. I couldn't leave her alone so I didn't go out but oh, I will tell you that it killed me when I get home and it's like starting all over again. But our bodies pretty quick to respond, especially if it has been worked before. So good luck and I'll see you on the trail!

Nope, I am running tomorrow. You shock the muscles so they have no time to complain.

Lol, you are nuts. Ina good way of course!

Good thing about our muscles is that they have some memory. Even 15 minute sessions a days can make a huge difference!

Very true and that is what I am banking on again. I last trained about a year ago and will start slow again.
