in #photos7 years ago (edited)

Before we get into the update I want to thank @Farmstead for all the advice, trust me this newbe needs all the help he can get!  I suggest you follow them, they have some good content on their page!  And for those of you looking at this post right away (it usually takes an hour to load pics), it takes awhile for the photos to show up for some reason.  I am looking at different ways to set up my posts, @farmstead has been very helpful, if anybody else has some guidance please leave a comment!

Now to the Update...

It’s  been a rainy week here at Serenity Valley Farms so we have not been as  productive as we would like to be because we might melt ya know……We did have our first harvest (beside strawberries) not a huge haul but pretty good for this time of year!   The garden is looking great, 99% of our plants look very healthy, what a change from last year!

(pictured below: Pole beans, peas, carrots and a zucchini)

Check out these tomatoes!  Oops, I missed a leaf while pruning....okay, look over that one....

Our squash and cucumbers have just taken off.

The Kale and Lettuce bed is going crazy……. and

... are producing much better than expected.... so proud, another picture of it below...

Most everything this year is planted in straw or hay bales look for future blogs on how the process works!

And last but certainly not the least we started making some beer!

We usually source all out all own product to make it but have received some kits as gifts, so why not, will see what happens!

 Its burping away!

Thanks to ya'll for checking us out, please leave a comment we looking forward to hearing from you!

The garden is looking great! Especially the lettuce. I love picking my salad from the garden. I have also made some beer from gifted kits. They turned ok. I did add some of my own ingredients to the mix. Let us know how it turns out.

There is nothing like picking all the fixings for a salad from the garden then straight to the plate for dinner! The beer turned out pretty good, not sure it is worth the cost they paid for it, as I am sure you know you can cut the cost in half by buying the ingredients, and I believe you have more control over the taste as well.
Happy gardening and brewing to ya!

Great looking garden guys!

Thank you...

It's good to see your plants a spread away from eachother and separated by grass.

With as hot and humid as it is here space is crucial so we don't burn up our plants. As we move forward there will be wood chips placed there to keep the weeds down and we won't have to mow grass.

Nice! Looks great!

Thanks.....

You're welcome! Yes, the lush coloration of the plants is delectable. Cheers!
