This stunning sandy beach with beautiful clean waters and red sands lies between Golden bay and Gnejna bay in the North-West region of Malta. Ghajn Tuffieha is only accessible via a steep flight of steps and its relatively isolated situation surrounded by the natural landscape makes for a truly tranquil escape. The bay is overlooked only by a derelict hotel and a small watchtower. Dating back to 1627, the tower sits upon the adjoining cliff face on the site of a former medieval watch post. A small kiosk provides snacks and refreshments without disturbing the tranquillity of the area.

The bay is perfect for swimming and sunbathing in the summer months when its waters are most calm. Due to the presence of strong undercurrents, a flag system is employed for swimmer’s safety and visitors are advised to be vigilant of conditions. In the spring, the natural surroundings are transformed as luscious greenery and wild flowers return to the landscape - perfect for relaxing hillside walks. A well serviced campsite is located very close by. Run by the Scouts Association of Malta, it is open to the public and well serviced making for an excellent countryside get away.

The area is easily accessible via bus routes 223 from Bugibba and 225 from Sliema.
