Architectural Photography: Karaweik Palace
Another attraction I visited while I was in Yangon was the Kandawgyi Lake. Situated in the eastern side of the lake is the Karaweik Hall also known as Karaweik Palace. It is a unique bird-shaped floating restaurant. If truth be told, I really didn't know anything about Karaweik Hall before coming to Yangon. Initially, I thought it was another temple or pagoda but I found out that it was a restaurant/convention hall instead.
I was about to have my lunch there but unfortunately, the restaurant was closed at that time because of an event. I ended up walking to the other side of the lake looking for another place to eat. Good thing there are a lot of restaurants serving local foods lined up across the lake.
Reaching the other side, you can clearly see the Karaweik Hall in full view. From a distance, it looks like a huge golden barge floating, glittering in the sun. It looks magnificent especially with its golden stupa reflecting in the water of Lake Kandawgyi. Having this view while savouring your food is just beautiful.
