Hi guys! Today, the whole of Poland celebrates an unusual holiday! This is a holiday "fat Thursday", it is also simply called the holiday of donuts. They seriously celebrate such an unusual holiday, I was surprised! They have all the shops crammed with different, bright donuts, with different fillings! Everyone takes as much as possible! Well, we took a little :)

The story of Fat Thursday

The holiday of Fat Thursday has an ancient history and is associated with the week before Lent in the Catholic tradition. In Poland, it is traditionally celebrated cheerfully and is accompanied by eating donuts. Donuts bake almost everything - regardless of age. Who does not bake - buys in the pastry. They are given to friends, treated to their neighbors.

This day is particularly highlighted by Polyakov - for table discussions, in which the wealthy owners should have donuts on the table, and the people should have simpler pie or donuts. ”

With bold Thursday in Velikopolskoy was a tradition similar to the Russian Clean Thursday. The custom said that if during the day someone does not help someone with cleaning, washing dishes or cooking food - that’s the whole year with the health toil. Perhaps one of the versions of this particular belief was the following, which survived to our time: “Whoever doesn’t eat a donut, good luck for that year - the cat wept.”
