Ulyanovsk. The Imperial Bridge. More photos
Recently I laid out a post with a photo of the Imperial bridge in the city of Ulyanovsk. Today I will show you the other photos that I made that day.
Ulyanovsk is divided by the Volga. Two bridges pass through the river. One old, opened in 1916 (the beginning of construction in 1913), and the other - a new one, opened in 2009. The old one is called the "Imperial Bridge". It is both an automobile and a railroad crossing.
Street Minaeva goes to the descent of Stepan Razin. Honestly, I can not imagine how the residents of Ulyanovsk descend on this serpentine, which leads to the bridge, when the road is a crust of ice. And even more so, I do not understand how they get up on this serpentine. But we drove on the road in good weather, and so did not know how this happens.
Descent Stepan Razin goes to the Dmitrovgrad highway. And the whole traffic jam, which mixes cars from the street Embankment of the Volga River, enters it. By the way, we chose this bridge not only because of the name, but because the local people said that there were traffic jams on the new bridge and went there for a long time. I wonder what kind of cork there is, if this is not considered a cork here?
In the distance we see a new bridge, which carries the proud name of "Presidential Bridge".
Slowly we drive to the bridge. From the booths the guards scan cars with their own eyes. Who is guards the bridges now? FSO, FSB or anyone else?
A huge structure.
The bridge is quite long. The main span is 158.5 m. The total length is 2111 m. And considering that everyone is going quite slowly ...
I could not choose a photo for publication and, as usual, laid out both.
And now we leave. And here, as it should be, booths with guards. To be honest, I do not really understand what exactly they do there and what they can do at all.
On the sides there are water spaces that are covered with ice. Judging by the confident fisherman walking along the trampled path, the ice is quite strong.
Next time it will be necessary to drive through the new bridge.
