Photo of the day 5
This is another shot of Mount Tongariro (Mount Doom) taken early in the morning on the climb up.
One thing you don't get from this photo is that it is pretty damn cold. My nose was running, my hands were frozen, and I hadn't even had breakfast yet! (Let alone second breakfast).
If I had know just how long and hard the day would be, I probably would have stopped and had something more to eat than a muesli bar.
Still, it was well worth doing.
If you are ever in Godzone, make sure you make some time to do the Tongariro Northern Circuit. It's four days of stunning scenery every step of the way.

Stunning to be so close to nature
Yes. It was a real treat to be able to walk the track when I did. Almost no other hikers on the track for most of the days. It was so quiet that I could hear the small stream at the bottom of the valley when I was high up on a ridge.
Just awesome!
So peaceful, we all need a little of this in our concrete world.

It was a very long and exhausting day. but it was also one of the best days I've ever had. The weather was perfect, the scenery was always stunning and I was walking through snow and ice wearing an old pair of Vibram Five finger shoes. (which is insane as they are not waterproof! ) But I loved (almost) every minute of it. :-)
It's all about the journey. Plus, you didn't come back empty handed. Sometimes I go out to shoot and come home with nothing special. You got yourself a good one there to remember. Cheers.
