A weekend in Cape Town (Part Three)

Lions Head, a wingman for Table Mountain, and a good way to walk off over indulgence from the night before

Lions Head, the peak to be conquered today.
So I left off where we were heading for dinner. I don't think there is much interest for readers to see a bunch of strangers enjoying food and drinks and dancing, but I post this one of me "enjoying" some seriously seriously hot peri peri giblets (piri-piri) .... phew, I think I cried for an hour..the beer in front of me did not last long...but went down as steam (apologies for the sideways pic {sulk})

As we parked the car and headed off we had this sweeping view of Table Mountain, and Cape Town City bowl.

Soul food

We started off on the gravel path which basically winds around Lions Head, getting higher and higher. Here follows a series of views we enjoyed.

Camps Bay beach, in summer is packed with beach volley ball players, surfers and sun bathers.

Just some seriously big boulders

Seapoint and Clifton..... Clifton affordable for only the uber wealthy

And below my favorite photo from this morning walk...

To the right is the harbour, and directly in front is the road winding up to the top of Signal Hill. A popular spot for picnics in summer with stunning views. Just to the left of the road one can see a couple of buildings halfway up. This is a Muslim Shrine dating right back to the 17th Century. We decided to walk there instead of to the top of Lions Head. We had never visited it before.

Slight different perspective, to the left Seapoint and Clifton, to the right the harbour

A container ship waiting to enter the harbour.

Unfortunately when we got to the shrine, it was cordoned off as it was having restoration work done. It is a National Heritage site, and will be on our to-do list soon.
