The most beautiful sunset I've ever seen provides the perfect welcome to France for my family 🇫🇷

After 2 years in Bali a new chapter has begun and we were greeted first with snow and then with a sunset unlike anything I have experienced.

My camera was still packed deep within our luggage so it took some time for me to start snapping this delicious visual feast after noticing what was happening outside. Five minutes prior to the photograph above the colours were even more intense than you can see here. The red & black swirls seemed to fill the entire sky, bathing the whole landscape in a surreal other-worldly glow.

This house in which we live now is nestled into the bottom of a valley in The Pyrenees Mountains where the winds are strong and clouds are fast and rolling, creating visual effects like no other place I know of.

I was reminded of this perfectly by the sunset which greeted us back. Even as the colours faded the shapes remained while the night descended upon us.

In the morning Esteban & i went exploring our new environment to see if we could find some flowers to pick for Sabrina.

We ventured up into the neighbouring village...

For those of you wondering if I maintained my barefoot tradition, I did not. Before the sun hits the valley it can be quite fresh in the mornings. It will take around a week to make the adjustment and then the flip flops will no longer be needed. I will tell you about my strange feet in a dedicated foot post!

At around 10am the sunshine rose above the mountain.

And we were able to warm our faces 😊 Quite different from my usual sun-gazing time of 6am!

Unable to find any flowers Esteban picked the next best thing he could find...

A golden brown leaf!

And we made our way back to the home of Sabrina's mother where we are staying for a few days before moving on to a different part of this spectacular mountainside.

All the new plants here seem to interest Esteban very much, most likely because he has never seen plants like this before!
