Time Lapse X-Ray vision - Me, a knife, and many hours of my life :)

in #photography6 years ago

Can you Guess what the first object is?
It shows 4 times in a row so Im sure some one will get it right.
Enjoy!!

Now then a little more info.
How did you make this?
I did this using a knife ( and a pair of scissors for the green Part of the onion)
It took a long time.
I started out by Glueing both the camera and the object to a table.
I then cut off the thinnest sliver I could manage and took a picture.
I did this over and over creating all the frames you see here.
Some pro tips:

  • Its important to be in a comfortable situation to do the cutting, it takes a long time and taking a break would result
in oxidation of the fruit, I learned this the hard way :)
  • Use lots of glue, I use hot glue, and cut the glue like its part of the object, until the last bit of the object is gone and your only cutting away glue.
  • If your going to cut an onion get a fan to direct the smell away from your eyes. I didn’t do this and I cried, Wish you all could have walked in right then, bet I looked pretty funny all teary-eyed with a big knife and my face 6 inches from an onion trying my best to concentrate on a nice straight cut.

I used Gimp to edit out the hot glue.
Lastly I asked my Brother Nathan Grayston to put the frames together into a video for everyone to enjoy.
Big Thanks to Nathan, he really made the frames come to life.

That video is 6 years old on youtube.

Yes and Iv just added a comment to the description in the youtube video, so that you can confirm that I really made it. Im rather new to this Steemit thing and I really appreciate the efforts to stop plagiarism , Iv just been reading all about it. I filled out a steemCleaners verification form and edited the video so that is now says:

Dear Steem Cleaners, This video has been intentionally placed on Steemit https://steemit.com/@rylangrayston

If there is anything else I can do to mitigate concern just let me know :)

A very good point, the user however added the description on youtube :)

Likes for him on the youtube too <3 its an awesome Video. Hats off @rylangrayston Keepup the good work. :)

That looks great! I got a bit worried while the first maybe 20 seconds of the video, but the best parts were coming.

To be more viewer friendly, I might have started with something else than the special thing I can't identify :) The video was really neat!

Thanks yes good point. So no you have no guess as to what that thing is?

I don't have any idea. I tried to see it for a few times but couldn't recognize it. I'm not sure if I want to if you're so secretive. "It's human lung" or something like this :)

everyone knows its a seashell.

The first thing... I think.... it's gelatin, perhaps? With some lighting through it?

This is really cool! Thanks for sharing! I have a soft spot for citrus.... :)

Its not gelatin and there is no lightning , but I must say guessing is my favourite part. The guesses are so random and out of the box they give me ideas about what to film next.

Thanks lemony-cricket

Maybe its an Onion. Duh. xD

This is great!
