The Beautiful Geometry of Nature, Pink Halite

in #photography7 years ago

I'm processing some of the pink halite(salt crystals) we just dug out of a brine lake in the middle of the desert, close to Death Valley, CA. I've always loved halite and the beautiful clusters it forms. As I was taking pictures of some specimens I noticed one had some extra depth to it's patterns. Beautiful geometry. So, here are some of those photos, enjoy.

For reference and different lighting.

We sell these on our easy shop, https://www.etsy.com/shop/Rt395Minerals if you are interested. They sell quite fast though so you have to be fast!

Nature really can surprise us. Sometimes we can see an absolutely unique things. It's amazing that all this precision and straightness. Real natural geometry. I'm not really familiar with the natural process of crystal formation, but from the point of view of aesthetics it looks unique. The impression that here someone has done a very precise and difficult job. But this "someone" is nature itself. Thank you,@rt395 for your story and photos.

Yes, it often surprises me, infect almost daily when I pay attention. Since I started collecting gems and minerals I've really begun to look at nature in a different way. The art of everything is amazing, except spiders, never gonna like them. 😅

this is salt. what a beautiful pink color .

Yes! 塩だよ!NaCl, but it get's it's pink color from bacteria living in it.

Lovely crystal shapes. But here it is so hot and humid that I think they would very slowly dissolve away - which would be a shame. I hope somebody buys and enjoys them.

Yes, halite and humidity do not mix. You can lacquer them to give them a longer life, but moisture will get them in the end. You can also seal them in a display case which will preserve them for a long time.

They will sell, they always do.

Ya, they are pretty stunning in person. Lots of luster!

Perfection exists, we only need the mindset to see it. Nice!

Congrats you see them. :) nice post.. you living your life to the fullest. i want to see more of your post. done following
