Coffee shops rent cameras to customers which capture the city the way they experience it. That's the fantasy premise of these photos.
Coffeeshops vermieten Kameras an Kunden, damit sie die Stadt so einfangen können, wie sie sie erleben. Das ist die Prämisse dieser Fotos.
How did the current incarnation of the Dutch coffee shop get started? According to this source cannabis became popular in Amsterdam thanks to American soldiers stationed in Germany after WWII. When on leave they liked to visit Amsterdam and they brought cannabis and jazz with them. Yet another reason to think of them as the greatest generation ;-)
Wie haben die niederländischen Coffeeshops begonnen? Nach dieser Quelle wurde Cannabis dank amerikanischer Soldaten, die nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg in Deutschland stationiert waren, in Amsterdam populär. Im Urlaub gingen sie gerne nach Amsterdam und brachten Cannabis und Jazz mit.
Eventually by the 1970s coffeeshops began to appear and drugs of all sorts were sold. The Netherlands reacted wisely and made a distinction between soft and hard drugs, and coffeeshops began to open in other cities.
In den 1970er Jahren gab es die ersten Coffeeshops, wo Drogen aller Art verkauft wurden. Die Niederlande reagierten klug und machten einen Unterschied zwischen weichen und harten Drogen. Danach begannen Coffeeshops in anderen Städten zu öffnen.

I think all drugs are dangerous and here I'm not excluding alcohol.
But I met lots of addicted people in my life. I saw old guys smoking herb for decennies, living an almost normal life, but I also saw lots of heroin addicts in their own and their whole families misery. I can tell you that none of them had started by consuming heroin.
This is a great post with wonderful photos and the idea with the "cameras" is really cool!

I agree, all drugs are dangerous. That's the most important take away.
Unfortunately, in America there is a huge problem with people becoming addicted to prescription opioids and later obtaining them illegally. So they are actually starting with opioids. It is a horrible problem. This is difficult to imagine:

That's indeed a huge problem! I agreed, I'm maybe a little bit old-school. Everything changes so fast and also drug abuse changes. I hope my girls will not touch anything, but one never knows what will happen. Will read the article behind your link for the topic interests me.

Ganz ehrlich, ich finde Canabis weniger gefährlich als Alkohol.
Ich habe 5 Jahre lang erleben dürfen (???? oder müssen ??? ) was Alkohol mit Menschen macht. Wir hatten jedes Wochenende Jugendliche die sich die Birne zukippten mit dem Scheiss und genug Kinder die wegen Verletzungen aufm Notfall landeten die durch alkoholisierte Elternteile entstanden sind.
Ich finds wirklich unmöglich, mit welcher Sorglosigkeit man Alkohol trinken kann...aber gut, ich finde auch das ungesundes Essen & Zucker eine Volksdroge sind.
Viele Stimmen mir da nicht zu. Wie stehst du dazu?
Es scheint, wir sind auf einer ähnlichen Wellenlänge. Es ist für mich seltsam, wie wenig Leute erkennen, dass Alkohol eine Droge ist, und es ist sicherlich keine weiche Droge.
Als Uni-Student jobbte ich in einem Krankenhaus und sah aus erster Hand, wie Alkoholentzug aussieht - gewalttätig, Wahnvorstellungen, in Schweiß gebadet, und sie mussten gewaltsam zurückgehalten werden.
Eigenartig, dass so eine Droge Salonfähig ist, während Cannabisbesitz hart bestraft wird.
Vor etwa 8 Jahren habe ich mit Zucker aufgehört. Sonntags erlaube ich mir ein Stück Kuchen oder so, aber das wäre es. Junkfood ist auch für uns tabu.
Ja ich bin da total bei dir, wieviele Familien werden mit so einer Sucht kaputt gemacht?
Und niemanden juckts....
Wir essen nur am Samstag Essen aus der Fabrik.
Den Rest der Woche gibt es nur Wasser und natürliche Lebensmittel, wie sie der Bauer erntet. Alles was wir essen wird ohne Plastik gekauft und selbst verarbeitet. Nur am Samstag, da essen wir dann auch mal ein Eis, Chips oder trinken CremeSoda.
Das ist für uns eine praktikable Lösung aktuell.
Die meisten Menschen hinterfragen halt ihren Konsum nicht, das Gehirn wird mit dieser Realität schon bei SuperRTL und co produziert und einfach angenommen als eigene Fakten. So funktioniert unsere Identifizierung mit der Welt, alles unbewusst rein was man tagtäglich vorgelebt bekommt. Das Gehirn kann nicht zwischen Mama und dem Fernseher unterscheiden, beides ist gleich real.
Ich hoffe einfach, das immer mehr Menschen anfangen, kritische Fragen zu stellen. Nur so können wir etwas ändern.
Amen. Eine Scheinwelt wird als Realität vorgegaukelt.
Ja, das witzige ist, die Menschen gehen dann hin und gucken total begeistert Matrix und jeder denkt, also ich bin aufgewacht und nicht so ein hirni in der Matrix :D
