The Infinite Canopy

I walked down the paved park path, flanked by dense green bushes and towering, arched trees. At first, it seemed like a peaceful afternoon stroll, with the sun filtering softly through the canopy. But the silence was heavy, entirely devoid of any bird song or distant city hum.

As I hurried forward, I realized the high-rise buildings to the right never grew any closer. The stone tiles beneath my feet began to warp, stretching out into an infinite, repetitive grid. The shadows cast by the branches began to twist into claw-like shapes, reaching toward me as the bushes slowly closed in from both sides.

Panicking, I tried to turn back, but the path behind me had vanished into a wall of suffocating leaves. The trees leaned down, blocking out the sky entirely, their roots shifting beneath the pavement. Just as the darkness swallowed me whole, I woke up gasping for air.
