Guidelines for a good photography post. (The Hashtag Race)

in #photography6 years ago (edited)

Hello all steeming photo lovers!

The number of good quality photo-posts in The Hashtag Race is increasing. It is becoming inceasingly challenging to choose the daily winners. I decided to share with you some tips how to increase the chance of being selected as well as examples of high quality posts.

@photofriend is a community of photographers supporting original photography on Steeemit and fight against plagiarism. To improve the overall Steemit experience and help fellow photographers is our shared mission. Come to join us on discord: https://discord.gg/qtbFfkp

I would like to say a big THANK YOU to everybody already supporting @photofriend! Without your help, engagement and support this project would be pointless!

What is a good photography post and how to create one?

This is quite an obvious question to ask and not that difficult to answer. Still, we can see people continuously failing to produce such posts.

It is important that you take your time!

You will gain followers by producing good quality content, not by increasing quantity.
Newbies are often disappointed when their posts make very little money and they try to make up for it, by producing a lot of them. This then logically affects the quality.

Title your post well.

This is the first thing that everybody sees. The title must be catchy and should stick to the point.

Use photographs of the highest possible quality.

It is a photo post after all.

It is important to write some text alongside your photograph/s.

Provide detailed descriptions of your photographs and some background story. Also provide information about your camera and its settings. It allows people to learn much more.

Format the text.

By centering images and text, using bolds, italics, making text larger and presenting your links attractively. For a comprehensive guide of formatting in markdown check out @thecryptofiend. He wrote an article on Markdown for Beginners.

Use properly the sourcing in your posts.

If your gonna put a link in your post, make sure that the link is related to what you are trying to show.

Use your tags wisely.

You want people to view your posts and therefore you must ensure they are visible and in the correct categories.

This list is in no particular order and I have absolutely nothing to do with these photographs. All compliments (or criticism) belong to the creators. I consider any of the following posts to be a good example of a high quality photo post.
