SPRINGTIME PHOTOGRAPHY: ELDERBERRY
Here comes the next year of our food supply!
These tiny sprouts and leaves are from the Elderberry plant! Like the Gooseberries that I recently photographed, these are also ones that I propagated last year. Growing our own fresh and healthy food is high on our to do list, and when we can make many plants from just one “parent” plant, that’ll definitely spread the blessing around and supply us with more!
To watch these fresh shoots burst out of the soil and dormant stems is so exciting for us. Not only will these plants lead to food for our family, but they prove that my propagation efforts were successful. To learn more about how I propagated these Elderberries follow the link below.

Dude, we consume elderberry medicinally. I should consider growing it. What's the ideal climate?
Not sure abour ideal climate, but it was all over in Wisconsin and in Arkansas too!. Check out the propagation link, and if you want to give it a try, let me know and I can mail you some stems to plant free of charge if you want!
Propagation would work well considering you are in Razorback Country and I'm right over in the Lone Star State.
If you get me a shipping address on https://steemit.chat I will ship you some over that you should be able to grow.
We like the health benefits too!
Wonderful! I grew up with elderberry. We would pick wild berries and my mom would make a concentrate. We would drink in winter on cold days after playing in the snow or when we had a cold. I have made delicious wine of the flowers but they don't grow wild where i live now.
