Moths: Clouded Buff

The clouded buff (Diacrisia sannio), roodbandbeer in Dutch, has a wing span of about 5cm (2") and is found in Europe and northern Africa and from there all the way to Siberia.

In The Netherlands it flies about in June and July, but only the males of this species are seen during the day; the females fly at night (good movie title).

It has been classified as "vulnerable" on the Red List, and is not seen all that often anymore in my region of The Netherlands. The two photos I managed to get were both made in peat bogs near the German border, where they were sitting on heather:
