Moths: Brown China Mark
The brown china mark (Elophila nymphaeata), waterleliemotje in Dutch, has a wing span of about 30mm (1.2") and is found in Europe and Asia. In The Netherlands, they fly in two generations, the first in June, the second in August and September.
They live mainly around ponds and pools and are active at night. During the day, they tend to sit on the underside of leaves over water, doing their best to be a pain to find:

The caterpillars of this species have gills and live in the water; they make little tubes of bits of leaf, initially filled with water and later with air, when they switch to air breathing. They also pupate under water.
