Butterflies: Common Blue
These are photos of the small common blue (Polyommatus icarus), icarusblauwtje in Dutch. They are well-named, as they are quite common in Europe. You can see them going about their business from april to october.
The females look a lot like the brown argus, and the males are very similar to the silver-studded blue; apart from checking habitat, you need to look at the pattern on the underside of their wings to be sure which species it is you are looking at.
