Nature Photography in the Marshall Lake, Arizona Area Plus Google Cardboard Virtual Reality Photo [Original Work]

in #photography8 years ago (edited)

This past weekend we went camping and hiking near Marshall Lake in Arizona. This is a great place to do some "free" camping in the great state of Arizona.

We hiked around Marshall Lake. Most people would not recognize this as a lake (see Google satellite imagery below) ... but give us a break - it's Arizona.

I've been putting off getting a new phone for a long time, but the day pre-orders were available I bought a Google Pixel XL. The camera is supposedly the "best phone camera ever" or something like that ... you decide. These pictures were all taken with my new Google Pixel XL phone. I'll post some pictures taken with a Canon Powershot G7 X Mark II later for comparison.

Sign text: Coconino National Forest MARSHALL LAKE. Ducks Unlimited. US Forest Service. Arizona Game and Fish. This natural wetland is managed by the US Forest Service in cooperation with Ducks Unlimited Inc, and the Arizona Game and Fish Department as a waterfowl area. The shoreline has been fenced and seeded to enhance vegetative cover necessary for duck nesting.

This tree made me think of fall - something that's hard to imagine in Phoenix.

This is what it looks like if you lay down to take a nap.

Sun peeking through the trees.

O Beautiful for spacious skies...

Dead tree!

The view on the way from Phoenix to Flagstaff on the I-17. You get an amazing view of the Verde Valley. Just drive safe ... it seems like there are always bad accidents on the 17 when we return from camping on Sunday. We actually took the long route home through Payson because traffic was backed up so badly due to an accident on the 17.

Love those clouds.

This isn't the 'lake' - its some kind of retaining pond that the cattle drink from. My kids got their shoes all covered in clay here.

Virtual Reality

Wish you were there? Now you can be :^)

Panoramic view - check this out in your Google Cardboard!
