Simplicity
Sometimes simple photos with minimal detail can be interesting to look. You can achieve this effect with macro lenses because they have pretty shallow depth of field so your background would be blurred and sometimes colorful and sometimes not, depends what is in the background.
One thing I wanted to mention is how you should take photos of little insects, it's by getting in eye level with them because if you take photo from above you will get boring photo that everyone can take. Just by getting in eye level with them you would get much more interesting photos.
