Dark pinup w/ the other vintage Londoner, Sarah!

Good evening, Steemians! Sitting down for my second post of the evening, this one to share some new art from a shoot during Viva Las Vegas in April, but not so fast! I need to talk about my day and do a little gloating first. I won’t make the part of my day long. My day was good. As I’ve mentioned, @guthrie is back to school and I had to afternoon to edit, draw and whip up a new design for the Rock Paper Scissors contest […see previous post]. @vermillionfox’s fancy new seamless backdrop came and we set that up for her next Musings post.

The gloating I might indulge in just a little while longer. Shortly after I arrived at @caffetto, @tarotbyfergus showed up. We broke out the Magic cards and it was clear within the first few games, the sands has shifted and his unprecedented win streak was indeed, over. I won the first “best of” series, then the second, the the third with a new deck. Some grumblings of “…maybe it’s just not my day”, took me back to the darkest period in my life when he constructed the god awful Nicol Bolas deck, written about in great detail in his previous blog post “Planeswalker deck of doom! aka The Bane of @kommienezuspadt”. He thought he was funny writing that, but it would appear that dark cloud has moved from my head and found a home over his own. Don’t feel too bad for him. When he does great at Magic, his personal life is in shambles, and vice versa, so you’re welcome @tarotbyfergus.

Alright. Now that I got that off my chest, I do have some photography to share. About two weeks ago, I made a post titled “Sharing new work here first w/ vintage Londoner in Las Vegas!”. I recapped my entire shoot with Chereeka, and mentioned I also shot with her close friend and British pinup, Sarah. This is about that shoot, with Sarah; equally lovely and a wonderful start to my brutal shoot schedule that is always Viva.

Due to scheduling conflicts and a big mistake on my part, I’d accidentally booked both Sarah and Chereeka the same day as my “Ladies First” guest photographer spot with Photos by Ana J. “Ladies First” was sold out entirely, and on paper it looked like I’d be finishing around 8:00p.m. […so closer to 10:00p.m. any seasoned photographer would know, which was the case]. The only option was to shoot before the event, so after just flying in, I met Chereeka and Sarah before the sun was even up, at an unforgiving 6:00a.m. call time.

Both of these girls were incredible, not complaining once. They sat for hair and make-up by the powerhouse artist Laine Hunkeler […who amazingly had both ladies shoot ready by 9:00a.m.]. I took Sarah a different route, around my friend Yocelin’s beautiful mid-century modern home. I was careful to not make the same shots that I did with Chereeka. We found interesting locations in the backyard […Yocelin’s home is used a lot by pinup photographers and I believe I’m the first and only to want to shoot behind it].

Sarah was a peach. She was a great model and worked hard despite the heat, jet lag and early morning call time. She had a bright face and cheerful disposition but I directed her to a darker, more serious mood for the sake of the photos. She just wrote me an email that included my favorite sentiment, “…these are so different for me.”. I love hearing that! I charge a lot for a photography sessions, and for the clients that hire me, I always want to give them a good experience and return the kind of photos I know only I can take. Very few things make me as happy as that.

Thanks for reading. For more photography, art, illustration and the stories behind the work, follow me here @kommienezuspadt. I post daily.

So Beautiful!

Thank you @vsf! I appreciate it!

Last photo is my favorite. She's a beautiful model, I have a thing for redheads.

@drakos HA! She's definitely cute. Thanks for the comment.

Congratulations on the Magic win! I have to again say, the energy through which you live your life astounds me, I wish I had a quarter of you get up and go!

As is my way I picked a favorite of the shoot, which was very difficult this time. Every shot is awesome but two really held my eye, but this one edged out the other because of that distant almost sad expression. Dreaming of a love lost perhaps, or just one far away. The navy skirt and red polkadot outfit works perfectly on Sarah and her makeup is spot on.

The gold glow to this shot give it a wonderful tone and the backlight makes a wonderful rim light. It is also a great pose that subtly shows of Sarah's curves.

Cheers,
@kellyjanderson

Thanks @kellyjanderson! I always look forward to your feedback on these shoots. She always does over the top, bright and cheerful pinup and I love having the opportunity to shoot the sad esthetic.

The last photo is AMAZING!!! <3 <3 <3

good shoots

Thank you @padmakshi! I appreciate the feedback.

Wow !! Great shots.
Congratulations to Sarah, very beautiful. The makeup of Laine Hunkeler was fantastic and of course your work is incredible. 🙆
This is my favorite

@bladimirojeda thank you so much! Yes, I agree. Laine was a powerhouse for this trip. She did hair and make-up for a few other shoots during Viva as well. I appreciate the kind words!

Beautiful model and nice photos too.

@dezconocido! Thank you!

I like the first and second image, And very cool post :)

you are welcome :)

Her eyes are so captivating.

Agreed @m31! It was a pleasure shooting with her, especially considering all of her work up until this point was cheerful, bright cheesecake pinup.

If it wasn't for the nails, her hair, make-up, eyebrowses and outfit would take us all to the early 20th Century, and the beginning of a dark movie wave. Well done @kommienezuspadt. Upvoted, resteemed & DPS.

Thank you very much my friend! It was great capturing her like this because she's always done bright, cheerful cheesecake pinup. Always appreciate the support and DPS @photo-trail!
