Picture Stories #345 - Orca Skull
Whenever I see the skeleton of some animal at a museum or at some exhibit, it instantly reminds me of the science lab in our school where we had different skeletons of animals and where we used to do different kinds of experiments. It even had a human skeleton system put up in a glass case of display, which was an artificial one in all probability, but for the longest time we thought that it was a real human skeleton. Skeletons give us a deeper insight into how animals are structured and it is the defining feature of vertebrates, so it is always interesting to come across one which I've not encountered before.
The above skull is the replica of an orca's and its most eye-grabbing feature has definitely got to be the teeth. I've seen Orca's on TV and while they are commonly referred to as killer whales they actually belong to the dolphin family!

You are right, museum is one of the place where I like to go and while walking through it is interesting to see those animals that inhabited our planet long ago and who knows if there would not be such weather catastrophe that made them to extinct, maybe we would not be here. That is what I usually think about :)
