The Elegant Flamingos
These birds really looks like they are the upper class of all birds.Long skinny legged, pink birds standing around gossiping about the other birds.
These are some of the photos I took while I was at the Pretoria zoo, South Africa.
Flamingos use a filter-feed system to eat brine shrimp and blue-green algue. Their bills are adapted to separate the mud and the food they eat.They spend alot of time holding the beaks upside down to filter he food out of the mud.The pink colour comes from the caratenoid pigments in their food
You always get the one black sheep of the family
These birds are threatened and likely to become endagered if the trade is not regulated. I did this post because I think it's important to raise awareness about these special birds . If we dont do anything about it we might just not see them at all anymore!
