Last year in August I visited the “Dripping Wall” near Molln together with 2 friends. This is a very unique wall where water is dripping like rain out. The height of the wall is about 5 to 7 meters and this special natural spectacle is very seldom, because it needs a special soil condition that allows this spectacle. There is also a special flora needed to make this possible. The lengh of this spectacle is about 50 meters.

The “Dripping Wall” is found in the Steyrer canyon which was formed by the river Steyr. It is a very nice conservation area with a lot of seldom plants. If you want to visit this place it will be the best to park your car in “Molln” and hike to the dripping wall, this is a walk of about 4 km. There is very nice nature all around the place and cow pastures and also a waterfall at the “Mollnerbach”. In the Steyrer Canyon you need to be careful not to slip because the whole path is very wet.

Dangerous after or while bad weather

After heavy rain you should not walk through the “Steyrer canyon” because it is very possible that there is the danger of rockfall on different places. The hicking course to the dripping wall is not really difficult and there is not much hight difference to walk from Molln to the dripping wall. But you better visit this place on a nice day with beautiful weather like we did. You also can’t visit this place when the Steyr is flooded.
