Sunrise on the high seas

A throwback shot to the morning view I was treated to everyday from my bunk while I was diving in the Maldives. That was a great time and the place was just beautiful. We were woken every morning at 6am. It would still be dark, but by 6:10 the first light starts peaking through and by 6:30 the sun is hovering over the Maldivian seas.

This was taken with a Canon G7x which has much more limited manual control than a DSLR but I am impressed with its performance in challenging lighting conditions.

Nice view! So you were sleeping in the boat my diving? Did it get very choppy or were the seas generally calm?

Yeah we lived on the boat we were diving from for a whole week. The seas were calm the entire time. Some of the guys were telling us how they had really choppy seas in the Mediterranean once where when sleeping, they had to tie themselves to the bed so they didn't fall out!
