Here comes the sun

in #photography8 years ago

Not everybody is plagued by the heatwave. The fruit trees and bushes in our garden seems to like the hot and humid weather.

the day before yesterday was another hot and humid day. Like most other people I know, I don't function well when it is hot, so I am incapable of making anything creative before the sun goes down at the moment. I did however find the energy to take a round in our garden and photograph some of our budding fruits and berries

First up is our Jostaberry bush. (or maybe its a blackcurrant I forget) either way the berries are delicious and they make for great jam

This second one is our pear tree. It is one of those multifruit trees where 3 or 4 different kinds of pears are grafted on. Last year only two of them gave any fruit, as the others lost most of their flowers to a hail storm before they could be pollinated. They bloom at slightly different times, which saved the others. The ones that did give fruit was delicious, but I hope (and think) that all of them will give a few fruits this year.

We have extended our strawberry bed, since last year we didnt get a lot of berries. This year looks great though, if only we can avoid too much rain. We have chosen the old sorts which taste much better , but are more vulnerable to rot and mould.

Finally this is the latest addition to our fruityard. A japanese Plum tree. During our visit to Japan last year I aquired a taste for salted plums, so even the ones which do not come to full maturity might be of use in the future. I only need to learn how they are made.

Yeah, I keep hearing about the heat y'all are facing over there lately, most Africans think they have it worse, that Africa is always hot and Europe is always cold. Most Africans think you guys don't face any heat at all. But come to think of it, how many Degree Celsius is your weather now? Cos it might be that what you guys are facing is cold when compared to Africa's heat 😂.

Nice garden you got going on. 👍

I am pretty sure a lot of non-scandinavians would find us to be whining. It is app 25 - 28 degrees. It is just that we are not used to it. Also in countries where people are used to heat , they are better at cooling their buildings. Danish buildings are optimized for gathering and holding the heat, which is great in winter time. so we have large windows which lets in a lot of sun and heats up the interior, but are still very well-insulated, and no way of getting rid of the heat except opening doors and windows. It has to be said that a lot of Danes Thoroughly enjoy the weather, And I actually enjoy it too, as long as i am able to sit in the shade with a cold beverage and do absolutely nothing. It is having to be productive in the heat, that is the problem.

Hahah, OK, I get it. I can imagine the relaxation in weathers like this and the swimming! 🏊 😁

Beautiful garden and productive too. Greetings
