Taking Time To Watch The Butterflies And Smell The Flowers

Eastern Tailed Blue (Everes comynta)

I just wanted to share a couple thoughts and pictures that I happened to capture right beside my garden. If you are like me you may not be where you want to be in life. I’m not talking happiness, that’s a choice we make, I’m talking about parts of my life that are not the way I want them to be.   I often find that one of the most awesome aspects of working in a garden is it gives you time to think. In most of our lives we always seem soooo busy that we rarely take the time to stop and think, to ponder the real deep questions we have or explore the multitude of ideas we have swimming around in our heads. I have even heard it said that most people never have an original thought

Pearl Crescent (Phyciodes tharos)

I’m not talking about sitting around on a rock somewhere contemplating our navel, I think it’s great if you want to do that, but I’m talking more practical things. How or why something works. How our thoughts and feelings affect ourselves and others around us. How and Why we raise our children the way that we do. The list could go on for a long time, but it’s really about evaluating something that can lead us to adjust our actions to fit with our thoughts and ideas.

It’s in times of deep thought and in answering questions like these that we will often find the things that transform our lives. It’s much like the butterflies in this post, a few short months ago they were little worms crawling around on the ground or across the leaves of the plants. They are worms, which have some beauty on their own, but they are limited in what they can do they simply crawl and eat to prepare for the future.

Eastern Tiger Swallowtail Male (Papilio glaucus) (aka Tiger Swallowtail)

The worm’s decision is not a conscious decision but when nature tells them to form a chrysalis, it is much like us making a decision or adjustment to our path. The result may not be immediately evident, the decision may not have the impact we hoped for at first, but given time and consistent effort it will produce a result.

Eastern Tiger Swallowtail Female dark (Papilio glaucus) (aka Tiger Swallowtail)

It simply may take some time much like the butterfly’s emergence from the chrysalis. They have spent a good amount of time confined, but as they exit, they must wait for a period for their wings to fully expand before they can fly. Then no longer limited to just crawling, they can take flight and explore an entirely new expanded world, filled with beautiful flowers.

So, if your not exactly where you want to be in life, take some time to watch the butterflies and think. Remember when you do spread your wings and take off, also take some time to stop and smell the flowers, it’s where you get your fuel to keep flying.

howdy sir coinsandchains! what the?? suddenly you're a professional photographer? those are excellent and so is the truth that you talked about. great job. where's curie?

The funny thing is those are all with my cell phone.... lol I don't know if It's good enough for @curie.

well it was getting pretty long, the photos are original so you got those two things going for you.
I got one of mine submitted to a curie person, the relay races post, just to see what they said when they rejected it. lol. then maybe get some ideas for improvement.

Now how do you submit one to them? That is news to me, I thought they just followed the art, music, writing, tags or something like that. 😱

haha! wrong wrong wrong! I know something you don't know! I gotta soak up the moment because it's probably the only one I'll ever have! lol

well curie has "official" curators that look at the posts and my friend knows one so she sent my post to her, just hoping for feedback after it gets shot down.

do you know glenal brethsen? I can't recall. but anyway he's been visited 3 times and each time it raised his rep level by 1.5 numbers so it's dang good if you can get it.

I was on one girls blog and she had back to back curies and the posts were nothing to brag about, I was really surprised so I'm sure some human likes or favorites or whatever you want to call that, come into play at times.

but I'm sure they follow the tags but they can also be submitted if you know a curie curator.

LOL, I'm sure it is not the only thing, I find things every day that I do not know.....
Well, I don't know anyone but I bet I could probably find a few.
I hit a guys blog last week that had 6+ $40 posts, and I'm reading them and going huh!!!! They were not curies but he somehow had a couple people following him that had given all of them a $18-$20 vote. I checked for bots as well.
I ended up getting hit on this post with the Dynamic Steemians voting trail, which is where all of the upvotes came from.
On that other post, I don't even know who sent the voting bot to my comment, but hey, I'll take it.

yeah I'll take voting bots if they want to come my way! I see ones where they just have several big people voting for them and it makes a huge difference.

Gorgeous photos!
I agree, I get a good amount of thinking time in when I garden. It's very grounding.
Im so busy rushing around taking care of everyone I really need that time to reflect.
I am for sure not where I wanted to be at this point in my life but I am grateful for the lessons that lead me to where I am.
Great post... Got me thinking!

Well my friend, from what I can see on here, you are doing quite well with living the life you want to live. Being busy is not bad, especially when you love what you are doing. I like to be in a constant state of improvement, and the only way I seem to be able to get there is to pause and think sometimes.

Wow! That is very good of you to catch butterflies that close and crispy details. I rarely can do that because most of the time, they smell me coming and fly few meters away. And when I follow, they move a little bit more. It is like taunting me and my phone has just 2x optical zoom. Photos will not be so good if I use digital zoom because they get pixelated.

Indeed, we all need time to stop, smell the flowers and chase butterflies. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and great photos.

@macoolette, I'm pleased you enjoyed it and thank you for the compliment. Trust me they did not all stay still. I did enjoy the butterfly milkweed while it lasted, it always had interesting bugs and butterflies all over it. I'm just glad to be blessed enough to have the time to try and photograph them, they always intrigue me.

You're welcome.

Good for you to have the time! Keep chasing butterflies. 😊

Thanks @sallybeth23, They are not bad for taking them with an old S4 cell phone. I actually used them for another contest, and quite frankly would not know which one to enter into yours. These are about the best that I have, well I have a lot of older stuff but no proof that I actually took the pictures....

You could enter one of the older ones - you won’t need proof that there yours - I will run them through tineye and that’s all the checking necessary so feel free to use old photos xx

If I have a bit of time I will see what I can dig up.

Brother excellent photos, I liked very much how you could take them to the butterflies flying, excelnte work :)

Thank you my friend, they were just lucky shots. Do you ever do the open mic contest?

Excellent photos, if I participated in open mic, at this moment I'm uploading my post, I hope you enjoy it, my friend greetings :)

Great, I'll try and get by the post and give my meager support.
Genial, voy a tratar de pasar por la publicación y dar mi escaso apoyo.

P.S. some beautiful shots there, I love to walk through our hills and appreciate nature whenever we get the chance. @insideoutlet

@asapers Thanks guys, it's much appreciated.

Lindas fotos te felicito @coinsandchains, cariños y besos.

Wonderful shots, great timing !!!
I like the comparison between humans and butterflies,
shame that not many are able to get wings.

I don't really know if it's a shame, to me it would be, but some people are just content with life before the wings. I see a lot of people that want the reward but do not want to put in the work to get it.

We are never satisfied !!! 😜

Some golden words behind the photographs @coinsandchains a nice way to evaluate life and its different aspect that make us to do so many things. I would say just live life happily and keep it flying just like the beautiful butterfly...

I would agree, the interesting part is many people are perfectly happy being the worm instead of the butterfly. Happiness is more of a choice than a result of your circumstances.

Ahh pretty gpod lesson first thing in morning....made my day with such a nice though thanks @coinsandchains👌

I wonder if most everyone don't have at least a few areas they are working on. Doing anything in nature brings a bit of dreamy contemplation into my day. Just the physical sensations of warm moist earth, the textures of the leaves. Maybe a nice soft breeze. All of those things sooth the spirit.
The little ups and downs of daily life can fade away into the magic of creation.

lol, someone has a bit of a poet inside.
I sometimes wonder the same thing, then I look at stats of television and social media useage. I have to remind myself often "I'm not normal" and that not everyone wants to change or is willing to give things up to get better at something.

Even those people are probably working on something. Even if it is just their game scores or social network.
Heck look at the time that goes into building Steemit accounts. Even that is goal oriented.
Now you have me thinking. I wonder if there may be a lack of non goal oriented activity.
something to think about anyway.

Oh no, @headchange is heading for a change. I set goals for my self every week, how much I'm going to work, what I'm going to accomplish on steemit. I never get them all done, some carry over to the next week, others I drop completely as they may not be worth doing if they were not done when originally planed.... Which is ok, as long as the most important ones get done.
I also use a 6-list every day.
