Abandoned bakery

At the beginning of March last year I had the opportunity to visit one of the abandoned bakeries in Samara - bakery No. 4 in the village of Mekhzavod. And not so long ago, I got into the hands of an advertising booklet of the late 90s with this company. The most interesting thing in it is photos of the current production. Below is a selection of photos of how the plant looked in the late 90s, and what the abandoned workshops look like.

Briefly history of the enterprise. Samara bakery No. 4 dates back to 1954, when production with mechanized baking lines was launched at the base of a small bakery in the village of Mekhzavod. The bakery was designed to provide products mainly residents of the Krasnoglinsky district. In 1962, the first reconstruction was carried out, and in 1964 the mechanization of work processes. In 1989, the director was Peter Pavlovich Bulkayev. With him, the plant was carried out a radical modernization. Increased quality and increased production. Daily output grew from 8.7 tons in 1990 to 40 tons in 1996. In terms of production growth, this was the highest indicator in the region among enterprises of this type.

Problems at the plant arose in the early 2000s, when an enterprise owned by the city administration. Samara, it was decided to privatize. In 2005, the bakery was transformed from a municipal enterprise into an open joint-stock company. True, the sole shareholder continued to be municipal structures. In January 2009, the Samara Mayor’s Office offered to sell 100% of the shares of OJSC “Samara Bakery No. 4”, but no buyers were found. Apparently, no one wanted to buy a company that has been unprofitable since 2005. In 2010, OJSC "Samara bakery No. 4" went bankrupt. Following the results of the bankruptcy, the operation of the facilities was continued by the Dimitrovgrad entrepreneur, who in 2012 established Samara Bakery No. 4 LLC. But after resuscitation, the bakery did not last long. The country's accession to the WTO and the rising purchase prices for grain destroyed many enterprises of the baking industry. The enterprise with Mekhzavod was no exception. On May 21, 2014, management decided to liquidate the enterprise. Most likely, the decision to self-destruct was made after assessing the situation in which the bakery was located. His work since the summer of 2014 was similar to death-cramps. Full production shutdown occurred in the fall of 2016.
