An old abandoned wooden outhouse about a strong mile and half off the beaten path in the woods. I discovered it about two months ago while on a hike foraging for mushrooms more north of me.
An old abandoned wooden outhouse about a strong mile and half off the beaten path in the woods. I discovered it about two months ago while on a hike foraging for mushrooms more north of me.
Still looks functional to me. The hole is still open and there is plenty of leaves for clean up. What makes you think it was abandoned?

Because of so much rot and the steps were totally gone. The floor not safe to walk on.
But yes there is natural clean up material

I imagine that the building had become somewhat odiferous in its last years of use and that it doesn't smell much different than its surroundings today.
There are some people called diggers who make an industry of excavating old outhouses as people having a history of dropping silver coins and jewelry at inopportune moments. After a hundred years the hole just contain composted dirt and the remains of what people dropped. So digging isn't an unpleasant job.

Very strange. I saw no other structures in the area. Maybe there was and burned down.
