কালীঘাট পচিমবঙ্গের, ভারত একটি হিন্দু মন্দির , এটি একটি পবিত্র ।

কালীঘাট প্রাচীন কলকাতার হুগলি নদী(ভাগীরথী) তীরে অবস্থিত একটি প্রাচীন ঘাট, এটি একটি প্রবিত্র স্থান যেটি আদি গঙ্গা নামে পরিচিত ।
আদি গঙ্গা হুগলি নদীর মূল পথ ছিল। অতএব নাম আদি (মূল) গঙ্গা।
শোনা যায় বৃহৎ শহর ক্যালকাটা, কালীঘাট শব্দ থেকে উৎপত্তি ।
ইতিহাস
কালীঘাট মন্দিরটি বর্তমানে প্রায় ২00 বছর বয়সী,
যদিও এটি 15 তম শতাব্দীতে নির্মিত মনসুর ভাসান এবং 17 শতকের কাভি কংকন চন্দিতে উল্লেখ করা হয়েছে।
মন্দিরের বর্তমান কাঠামো সাবর্ণার অধীনে সম্পন্ন হয়েছিল।
1809 সালে রায় চৌধুরী পরিবারের পৃষ্ঠপোষকতা।
কালী মন্দির উল্লেখ লালমোহন বিদ্যানীদীসের 'সংবেদ নিরনয়' গ্রন্থে পাওয়া যায়।
গুপ্ত সাম্রাজ্যে বঙ্গকে অন্তর্ভুক্ত করে চন্দ্রগুপ্ত দ্বিতীয় মাত্র দুটি মুদ্রা বাংলার কাছ থেকে জানা যায়।
কুমারগুপ্ত 1 এর পরে গুপ্ত শাসকদের সাথে মুদ্রাগুলির সবচেয়ে জনপ্রিয় প্রকারের মুদ্রা ছিল,
যা কালীঘাটে পাওয়া গেছে। এটি প্রাচীন ঐতিহাসিক প্রমাণ।

এই মন্দিরের কালী চিত্র অনন্য। এটি বাংলায় অন্যান্য কালী চিত্রগুলির প্যাটার্ন অনুসরণ করে না।
টাচস্টোনটির বর্তমান মূর্তিটি দুজন সত্ত্বার দ্বারা তৈরি করা হয়েছিল - আত্মারাম ব্রহ্মচারী ও ব্রহ্মানন্দ গিরি।
বর্তমানে, তিনটি বিশাল চোখ, সোনা এবং চার হাত দীর্ঘ প্রবর্তিত জিহ্বা, যা সব সোনার তৈরি হয়।
এই দুটি হাত দুটি স্কিমিটর এবং আশুর রাজা 'শুভা' এর একটি ছিন্নভিন্ন মাথা ধরে।
খড়গ ঐশ্বরিক জ্ঞানকে চিহ্নিত করে এবং আশুর (অথবা মানব) মাথা মানুষের অহংকে নির্দেশ করে যা মোক্ষ অর্জনের জন্য ঐশ্বরিক জ্ঞান দ্বারা বিনাশ করা উচিত। অন্য দুটি হাতই অভায় এবং বরাদ্দ মুডার বা আশীর্বাদে রয়েছে, যার অর্থ তার প্রবর্তিত ভক্তদের (অথবা সত্যিকারের হৃদয় দিয়ে তাঁকে উপাসনা করা) সংরক্ষণ করা হবে, কারণ সে এখানে ও পরে তাদেরপথ নিদর্শক হবে ।
