The Bread of Life
John 6:35 21st Century King James Version (KJ21)
And Jesus said unto them, “I am the Bread of Life. He that cometh to Me shall never hunger, and he that believeth in Me shall never thirst.
It is simply amazing that our most basic needs can be satisfied by our God. But more amazing is the fact that God knows that there is a greater need in us, the need for the life of God.
No one else has been able to say: "I am the bread of life". The true bread of life, which guarantees us never again to be hungry or thirsty. This is a spiritual truth for everyone who believes and receives Jesus as a savior.
For everyone who has tried everything and nothing has sated it, neither the vices, nor the pleasures, nor the world. Nothing in the world will ever be enough nor will it satisfy our hunger for God, our thirst for its waters, or the multiplication of loaves and fishes could satisfy the crowd, they wanted more, but they did not know that Jesus wanted to satisfy their souls before that their bodies.
Today Jesus wants to satisfy our soul and spirit before our body, no temporal delight can please us for ever, but God's love and presence can do it eternally. It is then that we understand that it is Him whom we need, rather than the bread that dies, we need the bread of life.
