My recent trip to San Sebastian allowed me to visit for you the old church of " La Virgen de la Asunción " where prayed Christopher Columbus and his crew before discovering the New World !
This little but impressive church named " " Iglesia de la Virgen de la Asunción " is the site where Columbus and his men came to pray before setting off for the New World.
The original chapel was begun in 1450 ,the church is constructed in the form of a Latin cross and has three naves and mixes Mudéjar (Islamic-style architecture), Gothic and baroque architectural styles.
The carved wooden entrance lobby is absolutely stunning as are the exquisite figurines placed all round the chapel. There faces looking down through the ages to sinners and saints alike that stepped inside with a hope to find God !!
Can you hear as you see these photos the whispering voices of these " Spacemen " of old as they envisaged sailing to the end of the World to see what could possibly be there ? Quite a thought no ?
I am sure that they were very careful in their every word as they prayed for deliverance and success in this epic adventure which would change the world forever !

this effigy of Christ was life size and was spooky to see as it seemed so real i can assure you !
the walls on both sides of the chapel were festooned with incredibly ornate scenes of saints and holy figures !!

Religion is man by mans effort seeking the approbation of God.
Chrisitianity on the other hand is God seeking man through His Son Christ Jesus. Faith alone in Christ alone for salvation.

Yes this is a very powerful place I can vouch for that !! Quite mindblowing that in such a small island that this church was built, but then my island was seen i guess by the Spanish as the last stop for God before heading out to sea in search of new lands and more than likely gold ! thankyou for leaving this nice comment @ken-and-jane !
