My best Shots and Impressions of VILNIUS [EN/DE]

Hey guys! I can proudly tell you today that I have reached one of my travel goals now that I have finally visited all 28 member states of the European Union! After spending a great week in Cyprus last year, Lithuania was the last country I missed on my list. But last week I spend some interesting days in the Lithuanian capital of Vilnius.

Hallo Leute! Ich darf euch heute stolz berichten, dass ich eines meiner Reiseziele erreicht habe und nun endlich alle 28 Mitgliedsstaaten der europäischen Union bereit habe! Nachdem ich letztes Jahr eine tolle Woche in Zypern verbrachte, war Litauen das letzte Land, das mir noch auf meiner Liste fehlte. Doch letze Woche verbrachte ich nun auch ein paar interessante Tage in der litauischen Hauptstadt Vilnius.

The highlight for me in any case was the fantastic view from Gediminas castle hill, which is located in the heart of the city. Here you have a wonderful view of the sunset and can see the sun disappearing behind the skyscrapers of the newer districts.

Das Highlight war für mich auf jeden Fall die traumhafte Aussicht vom Gediminas Schlossberg, der sich im Herzen der Stadt befindet. Hier hat mein einen herrlichen Blick auf den Sonnenuntergang und sieht die Sonne genau hinter den Hochhäusern der neueren Stadtteile verschwinden.

I also liked the cathedral square very much. This photo was taken almost exactly at midnight. Due to the geographical location and the time zone, the sun in Vilnius doesn't set until about 10 p.m. at this time of the year and the blue hour, as you can see, lasts until late at night. The bright blue clouds were especially fascinating for me and reminded me almost a bit of northern lights.

Ähnlich gut gefiel mir auch der Kathedralenplatz. Dieses Foto entstand fast genau um Punkt Mitternacht. Aufgrund der geographischen Lage und der Zeitzone geht die Sonne in Vilnius zu dieser Jahreszeit erst um ca. 22.00 Uhr unter und die blaue Stunde zieht sich, wie ihr sehen könnt, bis spät in die Nacht. Die leuchtend blauen Wolken waren für mich besonders faszinierend und erinnerten mich fast ein bisschen an Polarlichter.

I also used my crystal ball again. This time on a row of park benches. For these photos I liked this "deep blue and silver metallic" color look particularly well. I experimented also with the aperture and the focal length and was again fascinated, which beautiful lens flares my new lens can display.

Auch meine Glaskugel kam wieder zum Einsatz. Diesmal auf einer Reihe von Parkbänken. Für diese Aufnahmen gefiel mir dieser „Tiefblau und Silber Metallic“ Farblook besonders gut. Ich experimentierte auch mit der Blende und der Brennweite und war wieder mal begeistert, welch schöne Blendensterne mein neues Objektiv darstellen kann.

Vilnius is really a very cozy city, but on mild summer evenings at weekends the old town can get very crowded. There is no shortage of tourists. For me personally, Vilnius is second in the Baltic capitals in front of Riga. I only liked Tallinn a bit better!

Vilnius ist wirklich eine sehr gemütliche Stadt, doch an lauen Sommerabenden am Wochenende kann die Altstadt ziemlich voll werden. An Touristen mangelt es auf keinen Fall. Bei mir persönlich liegt Vilnius bei den baltischen Hauptstädten vor Riga auf Platz zwei. Nur Tallinn hat mir noch einen Tick besser gefallen!
