F2.8 - 10 sec. - ISO400

Hello everyone! Today I have again new crystal ball photos for you! My idea this time was to combine crystal ball photography with a park bench and light trails. The first picture shows my favourite photo of that evening. I put my crystal ball onto a bench at a viewpoint in the vineyards of southeast Styria. The road behind the bank is not used very frequently and so I often had to wait a long time until another car drove by, whose light trails I could use for my photos.

Hallo zusammen! Heute habe ich wieder neue Glaskugel-Fotos für euch! Meine Idee war diesmal, Glaskugel-Fotografie mit einer Parkbank und Lichtspuren zu kombinieren. Das erste Bild zeigt dabei gleich meine Lieblingsaufnahme von diesem Abend. Ich legte dazu meine Glaskugel auf eine Bank, an einem Aussichtspunkt in den südoststeirischen Weinbergen. Die Straße hinter der Bank wird nicht gerade häufig befahren und so musste ich oft lange warten, bis wieder mal ein Auto vorbeifuhr, dessen Lichtspuren ich für meine Aufnahmen nutzen konnte.

F4.0 - 5 sec. - ISO125

A park bench is very suitable for crystal ball photography, because you can easily create leading lines. Pay attention with the second photo to how the individual boards of the bench form lines that lead exactly to the glass ball and therefore direct the viewer's attention to it! A second big advantage, which a park bench offers for crystal ball photography, is that you don't need a tripod for long exposures. Instead, you can place the camera directly in front of the ball on the bench.

Eine Parkbank eignet sich hervorragend für die Glaskugel-Fotografie, da man sehr einfach führende Linien erzeugen kann. Achtet beim zweiten Foto mal darauf, wie die einzelnen Bretter der Bank Linien bilden, die genau zur Glaskugel führen und somit den Blick des Betrachters darauf lenken! Ein zweiter großer Vorteil, den eine Parkbank für die Glaskugel-Fotografie bietet, ist, dass man bei Langzeitbelichtungen kein Stativ braucht, sondern die Kamera direkt vor der Kugel auf die Bank legen kann.

F2.8 - 10 sec. - ISO250

The third shot is a slightly wider angle picture. If you want to take such photos, make sure you use the right aperture! I set the aperture to F2.8 or F4.0. This way I was able to isolate the glass ball well and achieve a nice sharpness gradient. If the aperture is too low, however, you might find that not the whole sphere is sharply imaged. Due to the darkness you should focus manually. I manually adjusted the focus on the glass ball in advance and then just waited until a car drove by to press the shutter button at the right moment.

Das dritte Bild zeigt eine etwas weitwinkligere Aufnahme. Wenn ihr solche Fotos machen wollt, dann achtet darauf, dass ihr die richtige Blende verwendet! Ich stellte die Blende auf F2.8 oder F4.0. So konnte ich die Glaskugel gut freistellen und einen schönen Schärfe-Verlauf erzielen. Bei zu niedriger Blende könnte es euch hingegen passieren, dass nicht die gesamte Kugel scharf abgebildet wird. Aufgrund der Dunkelheit solltet ihr außerdem manuell fokussieren. Ich stellte den Fokus bereits vorab manuell auf die Glaskugel ein und wartete dann nur noch, bis ein Auto vorbeifuhr, um im richtigen Moment den Auslöser zu drücken.
