Helios Test Drive part 2 - portraits | photo series

Saturday/Sobota

I drove with @basementdisco to Rzeszów, to the third Steemit meeting hosted in Kingdom Without Limit teahouse by @hallmann. We left sunny and hot Lublin to drive towards Carpathians and we came across the heavy rain. The ground temperature was still high and water was quickly evaporating with visible clouds of steam. Rain, however, lowered the air temperature a bit, which was rather relieving.

Pojechałem z @basementdisco do Rzeszowa, na III spotkanie steemitowe w "Królestwie Bez Kresu". Opuściliśmy słoneczny i nagrzany Lublin i ruszyliśmy na Podkarpacie. W drodze złapała nas ulewa. Temperatura gruntu była dość wysoka i widać było wyraźnie jak asfalt paruje po deszczu. Deszcz przyniósl nieznaczne ochłodzenie, co po Lubelskich upałach przyjąłem z ulgą.

The meeting was streamed on DLive, so I will not go into details about that, and stick to the photography. It was an excellent occasion to meet again my friends, see some new faces, exchange ideas and to have a great time.

Spotkanie było transmitowane na DLive, więc powstrzymam się od dokładnych opisów. Na pewno była to świetna okazja, żeby spotkać znajomych, poznać nowych ludzi, wymienić się interesującymi pomysłami i przyjemnie spędzić czas.

Helios 44m4 f/2 58mm is made for portraits. Despite having some trouble with focusing, I managed to shoot some pretty good photos.

Helios 44m4 jest wprost stworzony do fotografii portretowej. Mimo drobnych problemów z ostrzeniem, udało mi się zrobić kilka niezłych zdjęć.

Sunday/Niedziela

I went to Poniatowa to my family. I wanted to visit my mother, especially, since on saturday 26th it was Mother's Day in Poland. There I shoot a few portraits as well. Taking photos of my dog was the ultimate challenge, for she is constantly in motion.
For a long time I thought that shooting portraits isn't for me. But damn, with Helios lens I really enjoyed it and I'm really happy with the results.

Pojechałem do Poniatowej, żeby zobaczyć się z rodziną, a zwłaszcza mamą. W sobotę był w końcu dzień matki. Tam również zrobiłem kilka zdjęć. Najtrudniej było złapać mojego psa, który cały czas się rusza.
Przez długi czas myślałem sobie - fotografia portretowa nie jest dla mnie. Ale zmiana obiektywu na Heliosa sprawiła, że robiłem zdjęcia z przyjemnością i jestem zadowolony z rezultatów.

Since the lens was borrowed, I'm thinking about buying something cheap like that. Helios 44m4/44-2 or Pentacon 1.8/50. I have access to Carl Zeiss Jena (Biometar, I think), but it's construction doesn't allow me to focus on more than 5-7 m. I want to wander around Lublin at night, and make some photos. For that I need lens with large aperture. And I really liked shooting with Helios 44m4.

Obiektyw był pożyczony, więc teraz zastanawiam się nad kupnem podobnego, Heliosa lub Pentacona 1.8/50. Mam dostęp do obiektywu Carla Zeissa, ale jego budowa uniemożliwia ostrzenie >5-7 metrów z założonym adapterem. Chciałbym też zrobić więcej zdjęć nocnych, a do tego Helios jest niemal idealny.
