I hope you're feeling fantastic today.

Today's subject is the great Queen Nefertiti. This bust is apart of my Grandmothers collection of art and I thank her for letting me share this with you. This beautiful bust has been in our family for some time now always proving to be a center of attention. Also, upon picking it up one notices it's actually heavier than expected for it's small size.

This bronze bust of golden hues articulately displays the Queen in headdress and garb of the Egyptian royal family. I love the the bust also manages to accentuate her prominent features as well.

Neferneferuaten Nefertiti (/ˌnɛfərˈtiːti/[3]) (c. 1370 – c. 1330 BC) was an Egyptian queen and the Great Royal Wife (chief consort) of Akhenaten, an Egyptian Pharaoh. Nefertiti and her husband were known for a religious revolution, in which they worshiped one god only, Aten, or the sun disc. With her husband, she reigned at what was arguably the wealthiest period of Ancient Egyptian history. Some scholars believe that Nefertiti ruled briefly as Neferneferuaten after her husband's death and before the accession of Tutankhamun, although this identification is a matter of ongoing debate.[5][6] If Nefertiti did rule as Pharaoh, her reign was marked by the fall of Amarna and relocation of the capital back to the traditional city of Thebes." 1) The RAW Capture

I started out by positioning the subject under some lighting and tried to get as little clutter in shot as possible. Sometimes things peak into frame, but luckily I remove them later.

2) The Pre Finale

This part comprised of a two part process. The first was isolating the subject and the second was properly editing and colorizing the background. I recommend taking your time in these steps if you're trying to learn. Between using the Lasso, Heal, Colorize, Curves, Smudge, and other tools sometimes things can become lost in translation. Be careful, my friends.

Originally, I had thought this may have been the end of this Photo Enhancement Process, but something was missing. This was a bronze and gold looking bust, so i wanted more of the the gold nor orange brown hues to come out. Back into Gimp we go to find that missing flare.

3)Final Touches

I duplicated the isolated bust and made it into an Addition Layer. I figured that by using an Addition Layer, Multiply Layer, or some sort of Opacity layer may help to bring out the golden midtones lost to shadow in the Original photo. Give it the proper boost it needed. Luckily the trick of the Addition worked perfectly and our Photo Enhancement became complete.
